The search for purity leads to obsessive compulsion is unaware of the law of diminished returns, which means that a person will eventually put more energy into their obsession than they are getting back. One can never reach absolute purity and the attempt to do so will keep one in a state of mental and emotional dis ease. An aseptic environment is a dead environment. This urge people have to raise the bar as far as purity goes to exclude others means that only weird freaks will ever waste enough time to be seen as good enough. Look at Muslims and what their pursuit of purity has achieved. A meritocracy of purity is hell.
The other problem with this is that when you communicate to your children that purity is good, what happens is that you create a meritocracy of purity. So your children will prove themselves better than you by being even more pure than you were and their children will do likewise, until you have created a culture so obsessive compulsive, with such cognitive dissonance, so certain that it is correct and good and pure but completely unable to detect it’s own horse shit or get good results in the world.
